Polycarbonate’s Abbe number is much lower than that of ImpactRX, which results in a vision that is not as sharp.
ImpactRX™ lenses have a lower refraction index and a lower level of internal stress, and chromatic dispersion than polycarbonate: images are sharper and more clearly defined.

Traditional base-4 lenses offer a limited field of vision. When practicing a sport, therefore, precious information can be lost, with dangerous consequences for safety!

Wraparound Base-8 lenses ensure a very wide field of vision. Thanks to the optical design of ImpactRX lenses, there is no distortion in the peripheral vision. The resulting safety and comfort are without equal in traditional products.

Virtual Sight Technology

Virtual Sight Technology is an extra component of Rudy Project’s ImpactRX lenses. It consists in a dedicated ray-tracing program which combines lens surface topography data with highly advanced mathematical algorithms.

Virtual Sight Technology™ simulates how the human eye will see through the lens, and then calculates the optical performance of thousands of locations covering the lens surface, taking into account the parameters listed below:

 

  • Lens index refraction
  • Lens prescription
  • Lens center thickness
  • Distance from the eye to the back vertex of the lens
  • Distance from lens to object
  • Pantoscopic tilt of the frame
  • Pupil distance
  • Thickness reduction prism
  • Angular position of the object in the eye’s fi eld of vision
