Extraordinary 4th Dakar win for Despres

Cyril Depres has won the 2012 Dakar with Klonyx MX

A victory foretold, but above all a deserved win for Cyril Despres who swept the 2012 Dakar achieving his fourth personal success in the legendary desert rally, held this year in South America between Peru Argentina and Chile. A total time of 43 hours 28'11", with a lead of 53'20" over the second place contestant made the French motorcyclist, already a three-time Dakar champion in 2005, 2007 and 2010, unbeatable. After crossing the finish line in Lima Despres said: "Today I won and it's simply fantastic, because this was without a shadow of a doubt the hardest Dakar I've ever raced in".

From the third stage on, Despres maintained a firm hold at the top of the overall rankings, losing the leadership on only two occasions and regaining the lead in the penultimate day of competition. Together with the great champion, Rudy Project also won the 34th edition of this fascinating race, providing the French rider special Klonyx MX goggles. Excellent performance, but also the utmost comfort for these goggles, essential to better manage the light in all weather conditions, counteracting the blinding desert sun, and also excellent in ensuring a perfect fit inside the helmet.

"I always pay great attention to detail", Despres said referring to the race in which he wore Klonyx MX from start to finish, thus ensuring complete protection of the eyes, and also maximum peripheral visibility and sharp vision in any environment thanks to the interchangeable lens system. Also, with the practical "tear-off" system that ensures clear vision at all times, Despres could focus more on the competition without having to constantly clean the goggles.
