As Dakar 2012 gets underway, Rudy Project take the lead with Despres

Cyril Depres is wearing Klonyx MX at the 2012 Dakar

The three-time Dakar champion (2005, 2007 and 2010) is already in the lead in the 2012 edition, which is being held for the fourth consecutive year in South America. The teams started their engines on January 1st in Mar del Plata, near Buenos Aires, Argentina, and are due to reach Lima, Peru, by the 15th, passing through Chile on the way. The new edition of the world's toughest rally-raid, in which Despres will be riding a KTM, features 465 competing vehicles and a coast-to-coast route from the Atlantic to the Pacific of over 8,500 kilometers, winding through the insidious Atacama Desert and the fearsome Cordillera of the Andes at an altitude of over 4,000 meters.

To fight off the blinding desert sun, as well as to ensure optimal light management in all atmospheric conditions, Cyril Despres will be wearing the Klonyx MX™ during the race. These Rudy Project goggles stand out because of their perfect fit beneath a helmet and their ability to ensure not only eye protection, but also maximum peripheral vision and a clear view in all scenarios, thanks to the system of interchangeable lenses. In addition, in order to ensure that the driver enjoys the utmost comfort and concentration during races, the lenses are fitted with a practical "tear-off" system that ensures a consistently clear view, without having to clean the goggles constantly. From cycling to cross-country skiing, from golf to motocross, Rudy Project is always ready to assist champion athletes with the best equipment in terms of technical performance and comfort.
